Just as it is mandatory for good health to detox the body, it is of the utmost importance to detox the mind as well.
A typical day trapped in a toxic mind consists of negative talk. We would never allow another person to talk to us in the manner we speak to ourselves. Psychologists have proved that you will most consistently perform in a manner that is in harmony with the image you have of yourself. How can you ever expect to excel if you see yourself as unqualified, unattractive, inferior or inadequate? We continually say things like look at me I’m so fat—I’ll never lose my extra weight! I’ll never get out of debt! Nothing ever goes my way! We must put a STOP to this self defeating mantra. Replacing the negativity with positive self talk crowds out the negative, toxic thoughts. Tell yourself how fantastic you are and how you are capable of accomplishing all your goals!
The people we surround ourselves with have a huge impact on the health of our minds as well as the direction our lives will go. Who do you text message all the time? Who is in your inner circle of friends? We have all heard the saying “keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” but we should trash that idea. We become who we surround ourselves with. If friends are constantly dumping their drama on you, always look at yourself from the perspective of what you can do for them. If they privately enjoy seeing you stumble in life because secretly they are jealous of you, find new friends. Friends like that are not a part of your Mind Detox. Kindly and respectfully show them the door. If you have not been the best of friends to some, CHANGE! We get what we give in life.
Over all, remember to cleanse your mind and put it on a healthier diet. Don’t allow toxic thoughts to be a part of your program. Every morning when you get up, go through a mental cleansing by filling your mind with thoughts about what a spectacular day you are going to have. When you have toxic, negative thoughts, replace them with positive thoughts which will cause the negative to grow weaker. Before long, they won’t have any effect on you.
