Addiction – Innocently sucked in, Now a prisoner of the next high – Part 2

Sometimes we need to take a step back in order to reflect on life, to take a look at places we have been that we never wish to return, and to take a long look into the future to decide what path to take next. It doesn’t matter what others think. We must decide for ourselves if we have truly had enough. You know it is often necessary to experience who we are not in life in order to see who it is we are supposed to be. So, we can choose to relentlessly beat ourselves up, or we can be affected by those who judge, ridicule and finger point – either option keeps us stuck in a bad position. We have to try to shake it all off like a dog shakes off water after retrieving a fetch from the lake.

Take a few days to clear the mind and decide. If you are truly not ready to give up the pleasure you feel from your fix, in spite of the negatives that accompany it, then continue on. Keep in mind, though, that all drugs, perception or recreational, have an accumulative, negative effect on our organs. Every day we use, organs are permanently damaged more and more. We don’t want to put off changing for too long so that when we do want more than ever to get better, it’s not too late to do so because organs and brain cells have been damaged beyond repair. Should you decide to start over and be clean, there are many approaches to take. Of course rehab is a must for some, but others may be able to turn things around with proper support and guidance.
